The Montreal Jazz Festival is hands down the 'awesomist' music festival of them all. The line-up is ridiculous - Manu Chao, Bob Dylan, Angelique Kidjo, Keith Jarrett, Rachid Taha, and OMG OMG Carlinhos Brown!!!- the audiences are massive, the whole thing is like a giant steamroller that flattens Montreal for 10 days.
So although Harbourfront, Luminato and Salsa on St Claire are great gigs for Telmary, the Montreal Jazz fest will be her biggest North American appearance since she started performing in Canada last year.
She is playing at The 'Groove Bell' Stage, on the corner of Maisonneuve and Bleury St, on July 8th at 10 pm at night on the last night of the festival. For the show, she is bringing a killer band from Toronto that includes Chendy Leon, Alberto Alberto (who sings the Mayito part in the hit song Marylu), pianist David Virelles, (who already has his own show there earlier in the week) plus her regular band members such as Frank Durand, Devon Henderson, Jorge Maza amongst others.
Telmary is going to Montreal early to hang with Ojos de Brujo, who are performing there on the 29th,(Ojos de Brujo appeared on Telmary's album) so she will get to see the whole damn festival lucky her.
Me, I have to stay in TO to work and keep the ship afloat, so I wont get there until the very last day.
Such is life in show biz.
