with the Caribe Girls and Leonid Torres, ex cantante of La Charanga Habanera. I dont really know much about the Caribe Girls, they were here last year for the CHIN Picnic (??). One of Leonid's last shows with La Charanga was in fact in Toronto in late '07 when they played The Docks on a show promoted by Sophie of CubainToronto. I think Leonid had just given notice. i remember him looking distinctly out of place (bored) at the circus act that David Calzado has surrounded him with.
I suppose the timba speculators can speculate about why Mayito keeps doing solo shows, especially with the immanent release of a new Van Van CD.
My speculation is that Mayito wants money :-) Why not do something on your days off?
